Minnesota's Scott Baker stared down the loaded New York lineup and didn't flinch. Baker pitched seven strong innings in his first start against the Yankees, leading the Twins to a 5-1 victory on Friday that extended their winning streak to four. Juan Castro made his first start for the Minnesota Twins since hurting his right wrist while playing for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. Castro went 1-for-3 with an RBI on Monday in a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. "I wouldn't even call it an injury," Castro said of the bruised hamate bone, which has healed. "It's good to be back. I'm ready to go." Toronto's Alex Rios hit an RBI triple that scored Reed Johnson in the first.

Toronto Blue Jays starter Scott Downs left Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins when his right knee felt irritated while he warmed up for the third inning. "It was the tendon area under his knee," manager John Gibbons said. "Hopefully it's not serious." Scott Baker pitched six solid innings in his effort to become Minnesota's fifth starter. Baker allowed three runs, four hits and one walk. He struck out one.
